Chandra Prabha Wildlife Sanctuary is situated about 70 kms from the historic city of Varanasi. It is well endowed with beautiful picnic spots, dense forests, and scenic waterfalls like Rajdari and Devdari, the great attractions. The area was made a hunting preserve for the rulers of Banaras in the second half of the 18th century. The wildlife sanctuary was established in May 1957. Chandra Prabha Sanctuary is spread over an area of 78 square kms and lies on the Naugarh and Vijaigarh hillocks on the north slope of the Kaimur Range. The Chandra Prabha and Karamnasha rivers – a tributary of the Ganges, flows through the sanctuary. It is a typical dry deciduous forest composed of gneiss and laminated stone.
Rajdari is surrounded by the forest area; this stepped waterfall is the main attraction point for the tourists. This has been developed by the forest department near the fall from where people can enjoy the natural beauty of the fall.
Devdari is about 500 meters down the stream below Rajdari waterfall.
